Frequently Asked Questions

Costs, permits, timing, and what to expect — answered honestly.

Straight answers to the questions Shreveport homeowners ask us most. Don't see yours? Ask us directly — we answer.

How much does tree removal cost in Shreveport?

Most residential removals fall between $300 and $2,500 depending on size, location, and risk. Small trees under 30 feet run $300–$600, medium trees $600–$1,200, and large trees $1,200–$2,500+. The biggest cost drivers are access (can a bucket truck reach it?), risk (what's underneath it?), and cleanup volume. We provide free on-site written quotes — the price we quote is the price you pay.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Shreveport?

For most residential trees on private property, no city permit is required. Exceptions can apply to heritage or significant trees in certain districts and to any tree in a public right-of-way (near sidewalks or streets). If you're unsure, mention it during your free estimate and we'll help you sort out what's needed before any cutting begins.

Will you clean up after the job?

Yes — full cleanup is included in every job, not an upsell. We chip brush on-site, haul all logs and debris, and rake the work area. If you add stump grinding, we grind 8–12 inches below grade and either haul the chips or leave them as mulch, your choice. Want firewood instead of haul-off? We'll cut and stack it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We carry general liability insurance and workers' compensation, and we're happy to provide certificates before work begins. This matters more than most homeowners realize — if an uninsured worker is injured on your property, you can be held liable. Always ask any tree company for proof of both.

How fast can you come out for an estimate?

Usually within 1–2 business days for standard estimates. For emergencies — tree on a house, blocked driveway, hazardous hangers — our 24/7 line is answered around the clock and the storm crew rolls as fast as conditions allow.

Do you offer emergency tree service?

Yes, 24/7. Fallen trees on structures, blocked driveways, trees on power lines (after the utility clears them), and partially fallen hung-up trees all qualify. Call (318) 555-0147 any time — a person answers, not a voicemail.

What's the difference between stump grinding and stump removal?

Grinding shreds the stump 8–12 inches below grade using a tracked machine that fits through a standard gate — fast, affordable ($150–$400 typical), and you can sod right over it. True removal excavates the entire root ball with heavy equipment, costs 3–4x more, and tears up a large area. Grinding is right for about 95% of residential situations.

When is the best time to trim trees in Louisiana?

Late winter (January–February) is ideal for most species — trees are dormant and cuts heal quickly with spring growth. Oaks should only be pruned in cold months to reduce oak wilt risk. But dead, damaged, or hazardous limbs should be removed whenever you spot them, regardless of season.

You topped my trees — can they be fixed? (Or: do you top trees?)

We never top trees — it's the single most damaging thing you can do to a mature tree, creating weak regrowth and decay. If a previous company topped yours, we can often rehabilitate the structure over 1–2 pruning cycles. It takes patience, but many topped trees can be brought back to a safe, natural form.

Do you haul away the wood, or can I keep it?

Your choice. Standard service includes full haul-off, but if you burn firewood, we'll cut the trunk into firewood lengths and stack it neatly instead — many customers prefer this. Just mention it when you book.

What areas do you serve?

Our daily routes cover Shreveport and Bossier City plus Caddo and Bossier Parishes and southern DeSoto Parish — including Haughton, Benton, Greenwood, Blanchard, and Stonewall. Just outside those areas? Ask us; if we can get a truck there, we'll quote it.

How do I know if my tree needs removal or just trimming?

That's exactly what our free estimate is for. As a rule of thumb: dead trees, trees with major structural splits, and trees with failing root plates need removal; healthy trees with deadwood, clearance issues, or storm-thinning needs usually just need pruning. We'll give you an honest assessment — if trimming is the right call, we'll say so even though removal pays more.
